Often, partners find they are caught in the same conflicts again and again. Perhaps you feel attacked, or worse, shut out by your partner when you need them most. When the one who is most important to you becomes distant or a source of pain, emotions run high.  Do you wish you had some way to cut through the disappointment or blame and find your loving connection again?

EFT is an approach to therapy treatment based on the premise that we can better understand and even improve the quality of our connection with others by paying attention to our emotional responses. When we lack awareness of our emotions or avoid unpleasant emotions, we are unable to use the information provided by these emotions.

EFT helps couples to:

  • Become more aware of the emotions that drive our negative cycles of interaction
  • Welcome, allow and regulate emotion
  • Understand how our partners can help co-regulate emotional responses
  • Describe emotions clearly and in detail
  • Develop alternative, healthy ways of coping with situations that often elicit hurtful emotions

Unlike other therapeutic approaches, EFT assumes that emotion can be a source of healing and works with specific emotions to bring about healthy change.
